... we are located off the Sea to Sky     highway between Vancouver and Whistler, home to about three  hundred  residents and several oddities such as the ex-potbelly  pig named Wart who was recently deported on account of violent     behavior (but that's another story).  Britannia Beach     originally came to be because of a mineral discovery by Dr. A. A.     Forbes in 1888 which led to the development of a copper mine,     followed by a community.  The mine, once the largest producer     of copper in the British Empire, closed down in 1974, became the     BC. Museum of Mining     and in 1988 was designated a National Historic Site.  Britannia     Beach offers exquisite scenery, historical     intrigue, unique arts and     crafts, local cuisine     and genuine village life.      Yes there are quite a few things to see, so please enjoy our     web site and visit us!




This site was created by a team of youths over the course of the Summer, 1998, as part of the Britannia Beach Community Access Program project (BBCAP).
