SERVICES PROVIDED...

  • COURT INFORMATION - provide information on court proceedings to victim/witnesses for a better understanding of the criminal justice system.

  • COURT ACCOMPANIMENT - accompany a victim/witness through their court attendance for emotional support. Videos and colouring books are available to assist children through court process.

  • COURT ORIENTATION - prepare a victim/witness for court. May arrange a tour of the court facility, show the video "Being a Witness" and provide information on the fundamentals of giving testimony.

  • CRIMINAL INJURIES COMPENSATION - provide information, application forms and assistance in applying for Criminal Injuries Compensation.

  • CROWN LIAISON - act as a liaison between Crown Counsel and the victim/witness.

  • EMOTIONAL SUPPORT - provide practical and emotional support to victims/witnesses of crime.

  • FILE UPDATE - provide general case progress information to victim/witness.

  • POLICE LIAISON - act as a liaison between the police investigator and the victim.

  • HOME SECURITY CHECKS-  for  residential victims of break and enter with theft.

RESOURCE MATERIAL

Squamish R.C.M.P. Victim Services has an extensive library of pamphlets on the effects of crime and available resources. There are also training videos and written material on related topics.
