VICTIM SERVICE'S mandate is to provide the following:
- listen to victim's needs and concerns:
- referring the victim to other agencies for further assistance.
- assist with application for criminal injury compensation if you are eligible.
- exlplaining what happens in court and preparing for the trial, court
accompaniment when needed.
- information about the status of the police investigation and the court case.
- keep victim informed on home security and crime prevention techniques:
- provide assistance with completion of victim's impact statements:

Working with the RCMP VICTIM SERVICES PROGRAM is challenging, demanding and rewarding for the individual. Due to the nature of the work, individual program workers must be of a high caliber. Therefore, all potential volunteers are required to complete a detailed application. If successful an interview will be conducted, as well as a "background/security check" to ensure the applicant is a suitable candidate for our program.

Training:
All successful applicants will receive approximately 20-30 hours of training and will be required to attend monthly staff meetings. It is imperative that all members of the program be responsible, reliable and mature individuals who are sensitive to the needs and feelings of victims of crime. Strict confidentiality and professional courtesy must be exercised at all times.
